Artist Statement:

Cristina’s work seeks to illuminate the intense physical, mental, and emotional journey that an artist undertakes in the creative process. Idol is a self-recorded documentary capturing a Saturday where Cristina, inspired by her admiration for Deborah Harry, immersed herself in vinyl records and created a portrait of her idol. The title, Idol, is a deliberate play on the word “Idle,” highlighting Cristina’s dynamic engagement and unwavering focus throughout her work. She employed three distinct mediums to represent the versatility, thought, and labor inherent in her artistic process.
