“I do know the effect that music still has on me. I’m completely vulnerable to it. I’m seduced by it.”- Deborah Harry
Artist Statement:
Playlist delves into Cristina’s profound passion for music, a love instilled from the very moment her mother and the nurses turned on the radio at her birth. Equally passionate about music and art, Cristina explores how these two creative forms intertwine to offer unique, expressive pathways. Her musical interests span the years 1940 to 1989, and her work often reflects an intense admiration and personal connection to specific songs, genres, and musicians. This deep connection is particularly evident in her Impersonation photo series, where she captures the nostalgic, childlike aspiration of embodying one's idols.
In envisioning her ideal home, Cristina imagines every corner as an expression of her musical and artistic passions. Consequently, she incorporated artwork on household items and poster-like illustrations to bridge the gap between a musician’s stage persona and everyday life, creating a space that celebrates both worlds.
